It’s been quite the news day without the debate looming, between coverage of the tragic aftermath of yet another horrific hurricane slamming into western North Carolina, and Iran launching 180 or so missiles at Israel earlier today. Neither event was necessarily unexpected. Climate change is real, and nobody is shocked by Iran escalating the ongoing nightmare in the region. Both events are devastating, and each one (more so Israel) will absolutely be a part of election talking points moving forward. But for tonight, we watch 2 mediocre VP picks debate.

Without some major viral moment, not really convinced this will move the needle in either direction. JD Vance will be his obnoxious, bullying, weird and stumbling self. Tim Walz will be his midwestern, down home, coach-like and hopefully strong self. Much bigger things happening than these 2 going back and forth with scripted barbs, but nonetheless, it’s an opportunity for each party to get some more eyes on their messaging with only 35 days until election day.
