On tap out of gaslight central tonight is Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) Trump’s running mate as of two days ago. As you may know, Vance, the freshman senator and onetime Trump critic was at one time, one of the former president’s most vocal and fervent backers. That doesn't seem to bother him, or anyone else in the new party of anti-Lincoln. Vance is slated to give a prime-time address which you can expect to center on his life story. "Hillbilly Elegy" is the memoir, and later, movie, of his life growing up in Middletown, Ohio with the Appalachian values, drug addiction, and generational struggles of his Kentucky family. He was, at the time of the book/movie fervor, the unofficial (and in some rural circles, the unwelcome) spokesperson for the social and socioeconomic problems of white, rural America. And he will drive that narrative right down the highways of America tonight. But do not be fooled. Vance is a dangerous pretender straight out of Handmaid's Tale central casting. Trump and his white rectangle of courage are also scheduled to address the gathering of delegates.
